Summary
To create an interactive cd-rom for Kroger companies to distribute to employees educating them about new health care offerings such as a Health Savings Account (HSA) and the lower cost benefits it can offer.
Objectives & Overview
With the creation of Health Savings Accounts (signed into law in 2003) many large corporations wanted to offer this more cost-effective health care option to their employess. Unfotunately, HSAs were so new that public information about them was scarce and understanding the information available from the government was very complex and confusing for the average consumer.
The primary goal was to divide the information into digestible 'chunks' and then re-write the content, "…for the rest of us to understand.". Additionally, the project took the concepts of HSAs, which were very foreign at the time, and animated them using metaphores. For example, showing how the parts of an HSA were similar to a ham sandwich.
Anticipated numbers of phone calls with questions about HSAs (to a Help Line set up via Kroger's HR department) was high. However, the actual call-in rate was lower than the previous years when the HSA was not available. According to Kroger, those who did call-in had more specific questions about HSAs and appeared more knowledgeable about the subject.
